I was recently asked about my editing process for images captured with the Fujifilm X100VI. While I’m a strong advocate for Fujifilm’s in camera film simulations, I choose to shoot exclusively in RAW format. This approach offers two key advantages: first, it preserves maximum image quality; and second, it allows for the application of film simulations during post-processing, offering greater creative flexibility.
Applying Fujifilm X100VI Film Simulations in Lightroom CC
To apply the Fujifilm film simulations in Adobe Lightroom CC:
- Open your RAW image in the Develop module.
- Click the Profiles button (top right).
- Scroll down to the Camera Matching section.

Here, Lightroom will display the available Fujifilm film simulations corresponding to your camera model. From there, you can easily apply the look you prefer whether it’s Classic Chrome, Velvia, Acros etc.
Fujifilm X100VI Editing Example: Portrush Surfer
Below is the RAW image straight from the X100VI, with only a basic horizontal correction applied in Lightroom. As shown in the screenshot, my editing process typically begins with:
- Adjusting Exposure, Highlights, and Black Levels
- Fine-tuning the White Balance, Shadows, and Contrast

It often involves a bit of experimentation. For example, increasing the shadows while simultaneously lowering the highlights might seem contradictory, but it can help achieve a balanced, dynamic image.

Final Output and Lightroom Presets

For this specific image, I created two final versions, each with slightly different edits. To streamline future editing, I saved these as two separate Lightroom presets, each representing a distinct visual style.
Both Adobe Lightroom presets have been added to full photography bundle . This includes both photography ebooks and the additional premium Lightroom presets.
